Kilen traces its origins to an iron mill founded in 1675, began producing wire and wire rope in 1849, and manufactured its first coil spring in 1852. The company was acquired in 1989 by industrial investment group Beijer Alma AB and operates today as part of the Lesjofors Automotive group. Kilen states it produces the world's largest range of coil springs for the automotive aftermarket, and describes itself as the largest manufacturer of aftermarket chassis springs in Europe. Its factory manufactures springs from high-quality spring steel. In addition to standard replacement coil springs, Kilen supplies gas springs, leaf springs and sport springs to the European car and light commercial vehicle market.
