    Description

    INA Belt Drive Technology

    Overrunning Alternator Pulley (OAP)

The INA OAP uses a one-way clutch so the alternator can “free-wheel” during sudden belt deceleration. This calms belt vibration, reduces noise at shut-down/gear changes, and protects the tensioner and belt for longer life.

    What It Does

    • One-way clutch: allows the alternator rotor to coast when the belt slows suddenly (overrun), reducing belt snap and chirp.
    • Smoother accessory drive: helps the tensioner work within its normal range and limits oscillation.
    • Longer component life: less stress on belt, tensioner, alternator bearings, and other FEAD parts.

    When to Replace

    • Chirping at engine shut-down or during shifts; rumble/squeal from alternator area.
    • Tensioner arm “flutters” or sits off-center at idle; belt tracking issues.
    • Alternator charging faults due to belt slip or pulley clutch seizure.
    • Excessive play/roughness when the pulley is checked off-vehicle.
Important: Fit the same type the vehicle was built with. Don’t swap an OAP for an OAD (decoupler) or a solid pulley — they are not interchangeable.

    How to Fit (Universal Guide)

    1. Preparation: Engine cold, battery disconnected. Photograph belt routing. Remove the FEAD belt.
    2. Lock the rotor: Use the correct alternator holding tool (insert in the rotor shaft) and a matching OAP removal socket for the pulley splines/hex.
    3. Remove old pulley: Hold the rotor steady; loosen the pulley in the correct direction (usually standard thread, but verify OE info). Remove any dust cap/shroud.
    4. Check & clean: Inspect alternator shaft and threads; clean and lightly degrease. Do not grease the belt or pulley grooves.
    5. Install new INA OAP: Thread on by hand to avoid cross-threading. Hold rotor and torque the pulley to the manufacturer’s spec. Refit the protective cap.
    6. Refit belt & test: Route belt, ensure all ribs seat. Start engine, watch tensioner movement, listen for noise, and confirm charging performance.

Always follow the exact torque values and procedures in the workshop manual. Use the proper INA/REPXPERT special tools to avoid alternator damage.

    Quick Function Check (Off-Vehicle)

    • Pulley should rotate freely in the overrun direction and lock in the drive direction.
    • Any grinding, binding, or free-wheeling both ways = replace.

    FAQ

You can enter your Vehicle Registration Number on our homepage or manually select your vehicle details. We will then filter the parts that match your vehicle. Always double-check the Product Properties section to confirm correct fitment.

Yes! We’re constantly expanding our product range and catalog. If you can’t find the part you’re looking for, please contact us. We work with several manufacturers and may be able to source the part for you.

Many product pages include a Fitment Details tab with additional information. If you still have questions, feel free to use our message service — we’re happy to help.

Parts do not come with additional items like fitting kits or gaskets unless it is clearly specified in the Part Details section of the product page.

Brake Discs: Most standard brake discs are priced individually, but for safety reasons, they must be purchased in pairs. When required, we will automatically set the quantity to 2 in your basket.
Brake Pads: These are sold as a set (either front or rear), so one box is enough for two discs.

The Compatibility Table can be found on each product page, usually below the main product description. Look for a tab or heading labeled Compatibility.
